Toyota’s German rival Volkswagen stood second in terms of car sales. It sold around 92 lakh units last year with an increase of 12 per cent in the delivery of luxury cars.
Record sale of 1.12 crore cars in one year
According to a report by English website ‘The Hindu’, Japanese car manufacturer Toyota has made record sales of about 1,12,00,000 units of its car models in the year 2023. In a statement issued by the company on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, it has been said that it has won the crown of the world’s largest car selling automobile manufacturer for the fourth consecutive year.
Toyota sold 89 lakh vehicles with the help of Hino and Daihatsu
The report said that the Japanese car manufacturer has registered an increase of about 7.2 percent in global car sales in the year 2023. This also includes the sale of units of its truck manufacturing subsidiary Hino Motors and small car manufacturing company Daihatsu. With the help of these two companies, Toyota made record sales of about 89 lakh vehicles abroad.
Sales of hybrid cars made a record
The report said that its name and the dominance of the Lexus brand played an important role in the sales of Toyota’s original vehicles. This was the reason why this Japanese company made a record of selling more than one crore vehicles in the year 2023. In this, the share of its gasoline and electric hybrid cars was more than one third, while the share of its electric cars is said to be less than one percent.
