In the statement issued by the company, it has been said that Tata Motors is going to reduce the prices of Nexon and Tiago EV cars by about Rs 1.20 lakh. The company has also said that the prices of cars are being reduced after the prices of batteries used in electric vehicles have come down. However, the price of the recently launched Tata Punch EV has not been reduced by the company.
Prices of Tata Tiago and Nexon reduced
According to media reports, after the price cut by Tata Motors, the ex-showroom price of Tata Tiago EV in India has come down to Rs 7.99 lakh. At the same time, the price of Tata Nexon EV car has decreased from Rs 14.49 lakh to Rs 16.99 lakh. Let us tell you that Tata Motors had launched the Tiago EV car in the market in October 2022 at a starting price of Rs 8.49 lakh. This car has the option of two battery packs, in which the first battery pack is of 24 kWh with MIDC range of 315 km. Whereas, the second battery pack is of 19.2 kWh, which gives a mileage of about 250 kilometers when fully charged.
Prices reduced due to reduction in battery costs
In a statement issued by the company regarding the cut in prices of electric cars, Vivek Srivatsa, Chief Commercial Officer, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited (TPEM), said that the cost of the battery is a major part of the total cost of EV. Battery cell prices have moderated in recent times and considering the potential shortage in the near future, we have chosen to actively pass on the resulting benefits directly to customers.
Tata Motors aims to make electric cars cheaper
He said that, however, the demand for electric vehicles has increased strongly in the last few years. He said that our aim is to make electric vehicles accessible and affordable in the country, so that people can easily adopt it. He said that our portfolio of electric vehicles already offers a long list of body styles, ranges and price points for smart, convenience-minded people. We believe that at these affordable prices, the best-selling Nexon EV and Tiago EV will be successful in attracting customers.
