According to a report, the Ministry of Railways is planning to simplify the process for passengers to take their pets with them in trains. For this, the ministry has sent a proposal to start online booking for pets in trains. Let us tell you that a proposal has been prepared by the Ministry of Railways to start the concession of online ticket booking for these animals in AC-1 class. If media reports are to be believed, a proposal has been sent to the Center for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) to make changes in the software so that the facility of online booking for animals appears on the IRCTC website.

To travel with your pet in the train, it will be mandatory for you to follow certain conditions. Please tell that pets will be allowed in AC-1 coach (2 or 4-berth coupe). Vaccination will be necessary, however, if other passengers complain, the animals will be sent to the guard in a seating-cum-luggage rake (SLR).

Passengers will be able to book tickets for pets only after the first chart of the train is prepared. Their own ticket should be confirmed. Whereas, for animals can be booked on IRCTC app or website.

Optionally, Train Ticket Examiner (TTE) will also be able to book tickets for dogs/cats after the introduction of online facility.

There is no provision for refund of pet ticket fare even if the owner cancels the journey, decides not to travel with the pet, train is canceled or is delayed by more than 3 hours . At the same time, the money will be returned to the passenger.
what are the current rules
At present, tickets for pets can be booked only at the parcel booking counters on the platform. Here too the animals are moved only in LSR or AC-1 coaches, that too after reserving the entire coupe in the latter category. On the other hand, large domestic animals (cows, buffaloes, horses etc.) can be carried only in goods trains and a person can be kept to look after them.
