A woman fainted during puja in the sanctum sanctorum of Basukinath temple and died. When she became unconscious, the family took the woman to Jarmundi CHC, where the doctor declared her dead. The woman had come to her maternal home in Palojori with her husband on Holi.

Representative, Basukinath. A 30-year-old female devotee died while performing puja at Baba Faujdarinath Darbar under Jarmundi police station on Wednesday. The female devotee Pinki Devi was a resident of Fadasimar village of Palajori area of Deoghar district, whose husband’s name is Govind Mahato. The woman had come to the temple with her family to worship. She fainted in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple during the puja. Temple workers took the woman to Jarmundi Community Health Center for treatment, where Dr. Gufran declared her dead. The deceased’s husband Govind Mahato told Jarmundi police station in-charge Satyam Kumar and temple in-charge cum CO Ashutosh Ojha that he was originally a resident of Surusalapalli village in Veerbhum district of West Bengal. He came to his in-laws house in Palojori Deoghar during Holi. On Wednesday, he had come to worship with his wife, sister-in-law and brother-in-law and other relatives. Wife Pinky Devi was ill for some days and was undergoing treatment from a doctor in Deoghar. Govind told that he was married to Pinky Devi about three years ago.
SDPO arrived to investigate after getting information about the incident
On getting information about the incident, Jarmundi SDPO Santosh Kumar, temple in-charge cum CO Ashutosh Ojha, police inspector Satyam Kumar, Kundan Patralekh reached CHC and took information from the family members regarding the incident and consoled them. The officials also assured to provide all possible help. The CO talked about providing all possible help to the family members provided by the government. The dead body was sent to Dumka for post-mortem. Meanwhile, Jarmundi SDPO Santosh Kumar and Police Inspector Satyam Kumar also went to Basukinath temple and after investigation took information from the people about the incident.
