What is Hello UPI? In the world of digital payments, India’s UPI is making a splash all over the world. Now the National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) has added a new feature to it and has given the facility of voice mode payment through UPI.
Pay with UPI easily by saying ‘Hello UPI’
Under this new feature, now payment can be done easily through UPI by saying ‘Hello UPI’ on mobile. This new facility ‘Hello UPI’ has been launched by RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das recently at the Global Fintech Fest.
UPI payment help
At present this facility has been introduced in Hindi and English. Soon it will be introduced in other regional languages. NPCI said that this facility will help consumers to make UPI payments by voice through UPI apps, telephone calls and Internet of Things devices.
Smartphone and internet connection not required
Smartphone and internet connection will not be required to use this new feature. People in rural areas can access these facilities through their feature phones. At present, a limit of Rs 100 has been kept for making payment through voice mode with this facility.
Facility will be available in two ways
This facility will be available in two ways – oncall and in-app. The on-call facility will allow users to dial a number, where they will be guided through IVR to complete the payment. In-App will allow you to use your voice input on any UPI app.
UPI facility started at 6000 ATMs of BOB
Bank of Baroda (BoB) has started UPI ATM facility at its 6000 ATMs across the country. The bank told on Friday that it is the first government bank in the country to start UPI ATM in coordination with NPCI.
Target to take digital payments to the people
UPI payment has become even easier with the new facility. Its objective is to connect consumers with digital payments. It aims to bring digital payments within the ambit of millions of people who are unable to access it due to lack of smartphones, internet connectivity and limited digital literacy. The solution aims to connect 114 million bottom-line households in India with digital payments. These people largely live in rural or sub-urban areas.
