Whereas, the price of LXI 1.0 CNG model is Rs 7.25 lakh. So, you are already spending Rs 1.15 lakh more to buy the CNG variant of the WagonR. You are paying Rs 1.15 more for financing the car and the interest charged on it is different.

Petrol costs Rs 96.72 per liter in Delhi, while CNG costs Rs 73.59 per kg. In round figures, assuming the cost of petrol is Rs 97 and CNG is Rs 74, then the running cost for 1,000 kms a month on the petrol model of the vehicle will come to around Rs 4,000. On the other hand, the CNG model will get a running cost of Rs.2,176 if you drive it for 1,000 kms in a month. Thus, you are saving around Rs.1800 per month on the CNG powered WagonR as compared to the petrol model. But the thing to note is that to save this Rs 1800 a month, you have already spent Rs 1.15 lakh more on the CNG model of the car. In such a situation, it will take you 6 to 7 years to recover this amount. Not only this, the insurance fee, maintenance and service cost of a CNG vehicle is also high. In this way, you will have to spend more on these items as compared to the petrol car.
Who should buy the car then?
After understanding the complete math mentioned above, it is known that it is economical to run a CNG vehicle, but it is beneficial for those whose vehicle runs a lot. This means that those who drive their vehicles for more than 15,000 kms in a year will recover the extra money spent on the CNG model very quickly. Apart from this, if you are buying a car only for your own and family use and the running of the car is not much, then a petrol model car would be better for you. Anyway, there will not be much difference in the price of petrol and CNG in the coming times.
