Davos 2023: WEF Unveils Global Collaboration Village Metaverse Platform : The World Economic Forum (WEF) recently unveiled a working prototype of its global collaboration village based on the Metaverse. Companies can be a part of this metaverse to tackle the world’s grand challenges, innovate and create solutions.
The prototype of WEF’s metaverse-based global collaboration village has been developed by technology companies Accenture and Microsoft. It also houses a town hall and a virtual congress center for future meetings and conferences.
Speaking on the occasion, WEF Founder and Executive Chairman Klaus Schwab said, “With the Global Collaboration Village, we are building the first public purpose-oriented application with Metaverse technology. We are creating a real global village located in the virtual world.
He said that the village, built with the help of public and private sector partners, will harness the cutting-edge capabilities of Metaverse technology and solve the big issues of our time in a more open, inclusive and sustainable way.
Accenture’s chairperson and chief executive officer, Julie Sweet, claimed that the Metaverse will massively transform every part of every business by building a bridge between the digital and physical worlds.
Over time, this will enable companies to embody innovative new consumer products and services, revolutionizing their manufacturing and operations, he said.
“We believe the metaverse has the potential to fundamentally change the way we communicate and collaborate,” said Brad Smith, vice chairman and president of Microsoft. This will open the way to transcend the limitations of the physical world.
