San Francisco. Tech giant Samsung is expected to launch a smart ring named ‘Galaxy Ring’ next year.
The Galaxy Ring is being developed in collaboration with domestic and international component makers to ensure its success before mass production, which is likely to be decided next month, reports GizmoChina, citing sources.
The key feature of the smart ring is its ability to collect body and health data through build-in sensors, which can then be viewed on a connected smartphone.
The ring can be adjusted as per the users finger size to improve accuracy, thereby reducing any potential data error due to loose fitting.
However, there are several difficulties that the tech giant has to deal with during development.
Weak blood flow or overly tight fitting may affect data accuracy.
Even if mass production is approved, the certification process for medical device status is expected to take 10 to 12 months, which could delay product availability.
“Samsung is looking to integrate ‘Galaxy Ring’ with the XR device, taking advantage of its XR (mixed reality) device to track users’ head and hand movements using cameras and sensors,” the report said. Thinking.”
Meanwhile, earlier this month, a Reddit user found that the Samsung Health beta app, version 6.24.1.023, included a “feature list” that mentioned “Ring support”.
It’s possible that “ring support” was added to the Health beta app because the tech giant is looking to add support for smart rings made by other companies.
Or, maybe the company is planning to release the Galaxy Ring and bring support for third-party rings to the Health platform.(IANS)
