Semiconductor: Big deal done in these companies for chip manufacturing plant

Semiconductors: American SRAM & MRAM group is in final stages of talks with semiconductor maker SK Hynix and GlobalFoundries for its proposed Rs 30,000-crore chip manufacturing plant and a test unit in India. A senior official of the company gave this information. Talking on the matter, Chairman of SRAM and MRAM Group, Sailesh Lachu Hiranandani said that his group’s stake in the joint venture (JV) would be higher. An application will be made in a week to get approval for the project from the Center.
Conversation with SK Hynix
Sailesh Lachu Hiranandani further said that, we are just investor partners. We are already in talks with SK Hynix of South Korea. They are going to be our partners in India. The technology partners own all intellectual property (IP). SK Hynix is one of the top three global memory or storage semiconductor companies. SRAM & MRAM Group has proposed to set up a semiconductor manufacturing plant and a test unit in Odisha.
Approval of proposal of SRAM and MRAM Group
Sailesh Lachu Hiranandani said, my vice president is in touch with them (GlobalFoundries). We can associate Global Foundries with us. GlobalFoundries manufactures chips and its customers include Qualcomm, MediaTek (MEdiaTek), NXP etc. SK Hynix and Global Foundries were asked in this regard by sending an email, but till the time of writing the news, no response was received from them. The Government of Odisha has already approved the proposal of SRAM & MRAM Group.
