Smuggler arrested with 178 bottles of foreign liquor in Giridih, he was smuggling it in sacks on bike

Giridih, Mrinal Kumar: In Giridih district of Jharkhand, continuous action is being taken by the team of FST and police administration regarding the Lok Sabha elections 2024 and Gandey assembly by-election. In this series, FST took joint action near Chargo turn of Bharkatta OP area and succeeded in arresting a liquor smuggler who was smuggling illegal liquor on bike. The arrested liquor smuggler is Sikandar Verma, a resident of Jamua under Jamua police station area. Police have recovered 178 bottles of foreign liquor from Sikandar. Giridih SP Deepak Kumar Sharma gave information to this effect.

Liquor smuggler caught during vehicle checking
Giridih SP said that FST had received secret information that illegal liquor was being loaded on a red colored bike and was being taken towards Birni. After receiving the information, Bharakatta OP in-charge Akash Bhardwaj along with FST started checking campaign near Chargo Mod. Meanwhile, seeing a red Apache bike coming from Palra village, it was signaled to stop, but the bike did not stop. After this, the bike was chased at a short distance and caught with the help of the patrol team.

178 bottles of foreign liquor recovered
On enquiry, the bike driver told his name as Sikandar Verma. He is a resident of Jamua. When the team examined the cartoons tied on top of the bike, three cartoons were tied in sacks on the bike number (JH 11 M-1957). Two bags were loaded with foreign liquor. It includes ROYAL STEG (375 ML) 60 PCS, MC DOWELLS (375 ML) 38 PCS, HAYWARDS 5000 CAN (500 ML) 12 PCS, KINGFISHER (BOTEL) 650 ML-09 PCS, KINGFISHER (CAN) 500 ML-19 PCS, STERLING RESERVE B7 (375 ML) 04 pieces, MC DOWELLS (180ML) 10 pieces, ROYAL PLAYER (375 ML) 26 pieces i.e. total 178 bottles were foreign liquor.

Bike and mobile also confiscated
During interrogation, Sikandar told that he had taken foreign liquor from Doman Pahari, which is near Jamua police station. From here, an unknown person gave this liquor to Raju Saav (Sirmadih Police Station Bharkatta OP) after talking to him on phone. The team then arrested Sikandar Verma on charges of liquor smuggling and sent him to jail. Police have also seized a bike and mobile from Sikandar. The team included Mahesh Kumar Das, public servant Birni block, FST team, Akash Bhardwaj Bharakatta OP in-charge, Puani Santosh Kumar Dubey, constable Birju Ram, Havildar Saryu Prasad Yadav etc.
