Spotify is bringing video streaming platform, now what will Youtube do?

Spotify is seizing the power of Google’s YouTube by announcing support for full-screen music videos. However, this feature is currently in beta and is only available to Spotify Premium subscribers, and can be accessed through the Now Playing screen. Explaining the reason behind the new feature, the company said in a blogpost, “Spotify is where fans delve deeper into an artist’s music. So whether you’re a superfan who wants to revisit your favorite videos and share them with friends, or a casual fan looking for new releases, music videos create a new hub of engagement with artists.”
The beta version of the Spotify app with the Music Videos feature launched in select markets yesterday, with compatibility for a limited number of catalogs featuring hit music videos from artists like Ed Sheeran, Doja Cat and Ice Spice.
Explaining the reason behind the limited rollout, Spotify’s VP Global Head of Consumer Experience Stan Garmark told TechCrunch, “For this beta rollout, we selected these markets based on several criteria, including market size and availability of local content support. Chosen…Stay tuned as we look forward to expanding the catalog of music videos and expanding availability to more countries.”
How to watch music videos on Spotify?
-Open the Spotify app on your Android, iOS, desktop or TV app.
– Make sure you have a Spotify Premium subscription.
– Play a track and select the “Switch to Video” toggle on the selected music track which will cause the music video to start playing from the beginning.
– Users can also view the video in full screen mode by rotating the mobile device to landscape mode.
