New Delhi. The Taliban has come out in support of Elon Musk-run Twitter over Mark Zuckerberg-run threads on Instagram, saying other platforms cannot replace the original micro-blogging platform.
Taliban leader Anas Haqqani officially endorsed Twitter on Meta Threads, which has grown to over 100 million users within a week of its launch.
Haqqani posted, “Twitter has two important advantages over other social media platforms. The first is ‘Freedom of Speech’ and the second is Twitter’s public nature and credibility.
He said that Twitter does not have an intolerance policy like Meta.
“Other platforms cannot replace it,” said a senior Taliban member.
One Twitter user posted, “What has happened, even Taliban is supporting Twitter”.
According to reports, Twitter has been disliked by many prominent people, celebrities and advertising brands since Musk took over and overhauled it in October last year, but the Taliban is loving it.
In January this year, two Taliban officials also bought Blue Verification Check Marks from Musk for $8 a month, Vice reported.
The Taliban has been at the forefront of using social media platforms to get their message across to their audiences.
The report said, “Both Facebook and Tiktok see the Taliban as a terrorist organization and block them from posting. It is a ban that continues to this day.
