Tata Motors has launched the CNG model of its new sub-compact SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) Punch in the beginning of August itself. Along with this, the company has also introduced CNG variants of Tiago and Tigor models. The company showcased the CNG model of the Tata Punch along with the Altroz CNG model at the Auto Expo held in January 2023. According to media reports, the company has started taking orders for the Tata Punch CNG SUV from select dealerships ahead of its launch in India. It competes with Hyundai’s Xeter. Tata Punch CNG Features
Similar to Tata Motors’ Altroz CNG, the Tata Punch could get additional features added to the CNG variant as compared to the petrol variant. It gets six airbags, projector headlamps, 16-inch alloy wheels, automatic climate control system, seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system and electric sunroof. Tata Motors has introduced Punch CNG in the market along with the CNG versions of Tiago and Tigor.
Tata Punch CNG Engine
The CNG variant of the Tata Punch will be powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine, mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. In CNG mode, the motor will generate 76 Bhp of power and 97 Nm of peak torque. The Punch CNG will use the brand new twin cylinder CNG kit technology, equipped with two 30 liter tanks placed under the bonnet. In this case, customers can get full boot space.
Tata Punch Competition
In the Indian car market, the Tata Punch CNG variant competes with the Citroen C3, Maruti Suzuki Ignis, Nissan Magnite and the Renault Kiger. However, with the CNG powertrain, the Punch will directly compete with the CNG variant of the recently launched Hyundai Xtor.

The punch also packs a ‘punch’ in itself. It gets a 7-inch infotainment display, rear wiper with washer, cruise control, cooled glove box, rain sensing wipers, cooled glove box, projector headlamps and more.

Tata Punch also gets a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, but it is a 3 cylinder engine. However, this engine generates 88 Bhp power and 115 Nm torque. The punch gets 7 bhp more torque. There is a choice of 5-speed manual and automatic gearboxes available in both the SUVs.
price
The price of Tata Punch has been fixed from Rs. 5.99 lakhs to Rs. 9.52 lakhs in ex-showroom. Based on this, it is being speculated that the price of the CNG variant may be slightly higher than this.
