Thar breaks record in terms of sales, Mahindra sold 5,413 units in September

New Delhi : Mahindra’s offroader Thar SUV has become the third best-selling large model in India during September 2023. According to media reports, domestic car manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra sold record sales of about 5,413 units of Thar in September. In this, the company has sold the maximum number of three-door SUVs. However, the automaker had retailed about 4,249 units of Thar in the month of September last year. If seen accordingly, in September 2023 the company achieved an increase of about 27.39 in the sales of this model.

Mahindra Thar Variants and Engines

Let us tell you that at present, Thar has been introduced by Mahindra & Mahindra in two variants AX (O) and LX in soft and hard roof-top options. Additionally, customers can also choose the model from rear-wheel and four-wheel drive configurations. At the same time, 4WD Thar has been introduced by the company in petrol and diesel engines. The first is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, which has the capacity to generate 150 bhp and 300 Nm of torque. In the automatic version this torque increases by 20 Nm. At the same time, the oil burner gets a 2.2-liter mHawk engine, which is capable of generating 130 bhp and 300 Nm of torque and comes with six-speed manual and six-speed torque converter.

Apart from this, Mahindra Thar can also be in RWD configuration. The RWD Thar can be had with 2.0-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines, while the power output of the former remains the same as the 4WD edition. The RWD Thar is tuned to produce 117 bhp and 300 Nm of torque. As for transmission options, the diesel variant is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox, while the petrol mill is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.

Features of Mahindra Thar

Mahindra Thar features include halogen headlamps with LED DRL, 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system (with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity), auto AC, cruise control, steering mounted controls and digital MID in the instrument cluster. Apart from this, it also has washable interior and removable roof panel. Talking about the safety of passengers, features like dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensor and front seatbelt reminder are available as standard.
