Car Price Hike 2024: On New Year, domestic and foreign car manufacturing companies have decided to increase the prices of their vehicles. In this connection, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India has announced to increase the prices of its car range by up to two percent from January 1, 2024. The German automobile manufacturing company told the media that due to the increasing cost of manufacturing and materials of cars, it had to decide to increase the prices. The price increase by the company will affect Volkswagen Virtus, Taigun and Tiguan.

Why are car prices increasing?

Regarding the increase in car prices, Volkswagen said that the biggest reason for increasing the prices of passenger cars is to reduce the burden of manufacturing cost of cars. However, its impact will ultimately be on consumers only. Volkswagen’s lineup starts with the Virtus sedan, whose price starts at Rs 11.48 lakh. Prices for the Taigun compact SUV start at Rs 11.62 lakh, while the Tiguan tops the brand’s portfolio and is priced at Rs 35.16 lakh.

Volkswagen has updated Virtus and Taigun

Volkswagen updated the Virtus and Taigun with new variants and colors earlier this year, while the automaker also introduced a Sound Edition, bringing special graphics and other updates to the sedan and SUV. Although Volkswagen has not yet announced its new product for India, a sub-compact SUV is said to be in the works. The company’s ID.5 electric SUV can be launched in 2024.

These companies will also increase prices

Not only Volkswagen is going to increase the prices of cars on the New Year, but many Indian and foreign companies are going to do this. These include many car manufacturing companies including MG Motor India, Audi, BMW, Tata Motors and Citroen. Most of the car companies have decided to increase the prices on their respective models by one to two percent. However, to reduce the stock of cars, most of the car companies are also giving huge discounts on their new and old models at the end of the year 2023.
