Toyota Innova Hycross Flex Fuel: Japanese automobile manufacturer Toyota has showcased its first ethanol and first electric hybrid car, Toyota Innova Hycross Flex Fuel, at the ongoing Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024 at Pragati Maidan, Delhi. There will be no need of petrol in this car. Although, Maruti Suzuki has also introduced Wagon R Flex Fuel car in this auto show, but the most talked about is Toyota Innova Hycross Flex Fuel. The biggest thing is that the Japanese car manufacturer has manufactured this car in India itself.
Powertrain of Toyota Innova Hycross Flex Fuel
Flex-fuel powertrain is available in this new hybrid car of Toyota. It comes with a 2.0-litre Atkinson cycle petrol engine mated to an electric motor like the regular Innova Hycross Hybrid. It is capable of giving the same performance as the standard model even with ethanol-blended petrol. Toyota claims that this powertrain emits very low hydrocarbon emissions. The engine prototype of Toyota Innova Hycross Flex Fuel is BS6 Stage 2 compliant and can run on petrol with ethanol blending of 20 percent or more.
Toyota Innova Hycross will run on 60 percent electricity, flex fuel
The Innova Hycross will run on about 60 percent electricity using a flex-fuel prototype battery pack, while 40 percent will come from ethanol. The 2.0-litre, strong-hybrid engine gets different spark plugs, piston ring tops, as well as valves and valve seats. This will make it water resistant and prevent it from rusting when running on ethanol.
Toyota Innova Hycross Flex Fuel Changes
Toyota has also included a 3-way catalyst in the exhaust system to further reduce hydrocarbon emissions. For better performance with ethanol, several changes have also been made to the vehicle’s fuel filter, fuel pump and fuel lines, which now include an ethanol sensor. Toyota also has a cross section display of the Innova Hycross Hybrid, showcasing the electric powertrain parts common among its models.

Now if we talk about Toyota Innova Hycross Hybrid car, its price in the ex-showroom of India starts from Rs 18.55 lakh and goes up to Rs 29.72 lakh. This car is available in G, GX, VX, VXO, ZX and ZX (O) variants. This MPV car comes in 7-seater and 8-seater layout. In this Toyota car, you get 991 liters of boot space when you fold the third row seat.

Toyota Innova Hycross is available in seven exterior color options: Blackish Ageha Flake, Super White, Platinum White Pearl, Silver Metallic, Attitude Black Mica, Sparkling Black Pearl Crystal Shine and Avant Garde Bronze Metallic. Its ground clearance is 185 mm.
Toyota Innova Hycross Engine and Transmission
Toyota Innova Hycross MPV car has a 2-litre petrol engine with an electric motor which generates power of 186 PS and torque of 206 Nm (combined). Its non-hybrid version also has the same engine, which generates power of 174 PS and torque of 205 Nm. In this, e-CVT gearbox has been provided with the hybrid engine, while the option of CVT gearbox has been kept with the non-hybrid version. The mileage of the strong hybrid version of Innova Highcross is 21.1 km per liter. This vehicle is capable of covering a range of up to 1,000 kilometers on a full tank. It takes 9.5 seconds to reach the speed of 0 to 100 kilometers per hour.
