He was addressing the gathering as the chief guest during the 68th convocation of XLRI in Jamshedpur on Saturday. N Chandrasekaran said Tata Group is setting up Tata Electronics’ proposed Rs 91,000 crore chip manufacturing plant in Dholera, Gujarat and a Rs 27,000 crore chip assembly plant in Assam. These plants will generate approximately 72,000 jobs in the coming years. Not only this, the semiconductor plants of Tata Electronics will gradually supply chips and serve all the areas in a phased manner.
Certificate to 551 students
TV Narendran, MD, Tata Steel India and South East Asia and Board of Governors of XLRI, was present as a special guest on the occasion. On this occasion, 551 students who passed out from XLRI were given certificates. Of these, 14 students got gold medals. During the programme, N Chandrasekaran was awarded the prestigious ‘Sir Jehangir Ghandi Medal for Industrial and Social Peace’. On this occasion, XLRI Director Father S. George SJ, XLRI Dean Academics Prof. Dr. Sanjay Patro, Dean Administration Father Donald D’Souza and all the teachers, students and parents were present. During this period, the faculty, non-teaching staff and maintenance staff were awarded the Long Service Medal for their continuous service of 15 and 25 years.
Tata Group will bring revolution in electronic car market
N Chandrasekhar said that Tata Group is moving rapidly in the direction of green energy. A 20 GW gigafactory has been started to make lithium ion batteries. In the case of semiconductors, India is completely dependent on imports from other countries. There is going to be good consumption of semiconductor in India in the coming time. Said that we will be able to meet the increasing demands of electric vehicles. Work on electric cars is being done in Tata Group. This year some products may hit the market. At present, Tata Motors is at the forefront in India in terms of market share of electric cars. Said that Tata Group has set a target that 70 percent green energy will be used by 2030.
India has the power to leave China behind: TV Narendran
TV Narendran, MD, Tata Steel India and South East Asia, said that whatever things are learned during student life, they should be used in a positive manner in practical life. It is said that there is no age for learning. When he graduated 34 years ago, there were only four IIMs in the country. At that time China was not a factor, but today the situation has changed. TV Narendran said that India is progressing rapidly, if this pace continues then we can leave China behind in terms of development. He also expressed his views on climate change in the geopolitical situation.
