Trinamool MLA from Bhagwangola Idris Ali passes away, Mamata Banerjee expresses grief

Kolkata, Shiv Kumar Raut: Idris Ali, former Trinamool Congress MP and current MLA from Bhagwangola in Murshidabad district, passed away early on Friday. He was 73 years old. Ali was suffering from several old age related ailments for a long time. It was reported that he died late on Thursday night when his health deteriorated. He was admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata, where he died of a heart attack at 2:20 am on Friday. There is mourning in the Trinamool camp due to his death. Chief Minister and Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee expressed deep grief over his demise. And expressed his condolences to the family of the late MLA. According to Idris’s family sources, he will be cremated at the Park Street Cemetery in Kolkata on Friday. Before this, his body can also be brought to the Assembly during the day, where tributes will be paid to him.

Due to ill health, Ali was not seen in the Assembly even for a day in the current budget session. Ali was elected MLA from Bhagwangola seat of Murshidabad in the 2021 assembly elections on Trinamool ticket. However, due to being infected with Covid, he was He was not seen campaigning in the 2021 assembly elections. Despite this, he defeated his nearest rival by a margin of more than one lakh votes. According to sources close to him, Idreesh’s body has been in the grip of Covid since He was beginning to break down. He was having difficulty even walking.

MP was elected from Basirhat Lok Sabha seat in 2014

In 2014, Ali was elected MP once by winning from Basirhat seat of North 24 Parganas district by a huge margin on Trinamool Congress ticket. However, Trinamool did not give him the ticket in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Ali was initially a lawyer by profession. Later he joined politics. Idris’s political career started with Congress. Later he joined Trinamool. In the 2011 assembly elections, Trinamool made him a candidate from Jalangi seat of Murshidabad, but that time he lost. After this, Idrish reached the assembly for the first time by winning the by-election of Ulberia East assembly constituency of Howrah. In the 2021 assembly elections, Trinamool made him a candidate from Bhagwangola seat of Murshidabad.
