New Delhi | Elon Musk-run Twitter announced on Saturday that it would take less severe action against user accounts breaking its rules, asking them to remove controversial tweets and move on. The company said it will only suspend Twitter accounts that are found to be in serious flouting of its rules.
We will take less severe action, the micro-blogging platform said, including limiting the reach of policy-violating Tweets or asking you to delete Tweets before continuing to use your account.
It states that account suspension will be reserved for serious or ongoing, repeated violations of our policies.
Serious violations include engaging in illegal content or activity, inciting or threatening violence or harm, violating privacy, platform manipulation or spam, and targeted harassment of users.
Twitter said it is actively restoring previously suspended accounts.
“Starting February 1, any account can appeal a suspension and be assessed under our new criteria for reinstatement,” Twitter said.
The company said it did not reinstate accounts that were involved in illegal activity, threats of harm or violence, mass spam and platform manipulation or when there was no recent appeal to reinstate the account. IANS)
