There are two types of UPI fraud: Fake UPI money request:

This is one of the common methods used by scammers. Through this sending money to a person’s UPI account and then a phone call is made. In this, the scammer pretends that the money has been transferred to them by mistake.

In such cases, the scammers call the person hurriedly and ask for the money back. A UPI link is sent to the individual to initiate the refund process. As soon as they click on it, the scammer gets access to their phone or digital wallet and bank account. Due to this scammers steal the user’s money.

Fake QR Code:

This is also a common method through which scammers steal money. Scammers tell users that they will send their money to them using a QR code. But when the victim scans the QR code, he is asked to enter his UPI PIN. As soon as the PIN is entered, the user’s account gets hacked.

How to stay safe from UPI scams:

Do not transfer money without knowing: If someone tells you that he has sent you money by mistake, then first you should identify that person correctly. Do not make payment by visiting any link or cour code given by any person.

Don’t share your UPI PIN: Never share your UPI PIN with anyone. Enter the UPI PIN only when you are making a payment to someone yourself.

Identify the receiver: If you are sending money to someone, then identify him well. Sometimes people claim to be your relative or from the bank. In such a situation, do a good check before paying anyone.
