WhatsApp has also announced that users can now link their WhatsApp account on up to 4 devices. During this time their chats will remain synced, encrypted and accessible even when their phones are offline. After updating WhatsApp on their Windows desktop, users will have access to new features including video and voice calling options and device linking for almost all devices.
WhatsApp said in a tweet that “No charger, no problem. You can now link WhatsApp on up to 4 devices so that your chats remain synced, encrypted and accessible even when users’ phones are offline.”
If you want to use your WhatsApp account on multiple devices, follow these steps to link your account to your primary mobile devices.
How to link multiple devices on WhatsApp:
- Open WhatsApp on your primary device that is linked to your phone number.
- Go to “Settings” and select “Linked Devices”.
- Tap “Link a new device” and follow the on-screen directions.
- To connect a second device, just like on a Windows desktop, open the WhatsApp web page on a web browser.
- Scan the QR code on the web page with your other device.
- Wait for the devices to sync. Your chats will be visible on the other device.
- Follow the same process to link more devices.
- You can link up to 4 devices at once and the linked devices will be connected to your WhatsApp account as long as they are connected to the internet.
- Users can unlink the device at any time even by logging out of the WhatsApp app.
- You can use up to 4 linked devices and one phone at a time.
Your personal messages, media and calls are end-to-end encrypted. Each linked device connects independently to WhatsApp, maintaining the same level of privacy and security through end-to-end encryption. One thing to note is that the phone doesn’t need to be online in order to use WhatsApp on the linked device. However, if you don’t use your phone for more than 14 days, your linked devices will be logged out. Apart from this, you need your primary phone to register your WhatsApp account and link new devices.
