Voting in two phases on 10 Lok Sabha seats in 11 districts

Shiv Sena and BJP are strong in Vidarbha

In the last two elections, the people of Vidarbha had trusted BJP and undivided Shiv Sena. BJP has made its strong hold in eastern Vidarbha and Shiv Sena in the west. Vidarbha region, with 10 Lok Sabha seats and 62 assembly constituencies, will script the political future of the ruling Mahayuti and opposition MVA alliance in the 2024 elections. From 1960 to 2009, entire Vidarbha was a stronghold of Congress.

Vidarbha is not easy this time for Shiv Sena and NCP

Even after the Emergency, when Congress suffered a crushing defeat in the 1977 elections, the people of Vidarbha had gifted all the seats to India Gandhi. Now, the battle of Vidarbha is no longer easy for the divided Shiv Sena and the torn NCP. Vidarbha means the area of ​​11 districts of eastern Maharashtra. There are 10 Lok Sabha seats in this area.

Voting will be held on these 5 seats of Vidarbha on April 19.

Of these, five seats, Nagpur, Ramtek, Chandrapur, Gondia-Bhandara and Gadchiroli, will be voted in the first phase on April 19. In the second phase, voting will be held on April 26 in Akola, Amravati, Wardha, Yavatmal-Washim and Buldhana seats. This time, it will be interesting to see in whose account the results will be credited in what proportion.

BJP could win only 29 seats in the assembly elections

In the 2019 assembly elections, out of total 62 seats in Vidarbha, BJP had won 29, undivided Shiv Sena four, NCP six, Congress 15 and others eight. However, in 2014, BJP had won 44 assembly seats. Due to loss of 15 assembly seats, there is concern for the party in the Lok Sabha elections also.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari confident of his work

Nagpur is the main city of Vidarbha, where ‘Highway Man’ Union Minister Nitin Gadkari is contesting the elections for the third time, while Congress has drawn a tough contest by fielding Nagpur South MLA and Congress District President Vikas Thackeray.

BJP bets on Mungantiwar

At the same time, after the defeat of former Union Minister Hansraj Ahir last time in the neighboring Chandrapur seat, BJP has placed its bet on the dynamic state minister Sudhir Mungantiwar. Congress has fielded Pratima, wife of late Balu Dhanorkar, which is expected to make the contest interesting. Congress has fielded a candidate from Ramtek seat near Nagpur.

There is a possibility of collision on these seats also

In Mahayuti, this seat is with Shiv Sena (Shinde faction). There is talk of Congress MLA Raju Parve contesting the elections from Shinde group. Parve recently resigned from Congress and the post of MLA. There is also a possibility of a fight between the candidates of Mahavikas Aghadi and Mahayuti on Bhandara-Gondia and Gadchiroli-Chimur seats.
