Jaipur : Cheating the customers and selling a defective jeep and then not resolving it after complaining proved to be very costly for a showroom in Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. Jaipur’s District Consumer Forum, while ruling in favor of the customer, has ordered the showroom to pay the price of the jeep along with damages and interest amount to the vehicle owner. In this case, the forum has given its verdict holding the showroom guilty of deficiency in service if the car is not in good condition even after repair.
Customer will get more than 40 lakh money
According to media reports, the District Consumer Forum-II of Jaipur, in its order, imposed a compensation of about Rs 5.11 lakh on the vehicle seller, considering it as a service defect if the car was not repaired after selling a faulty vehicle and repeatedly repairing it. Along with this, the Forum has ordered to take back the defective vehicle from the customer and return its value of around Rs 33.05 lakh and to pay the money with an interest of around 9 per cent from the date of filing of complaint in the Forum till the decision is pronounced. After the order of the forum, the showroom will pay an amount of more than Rs 40 lakh to the customer. On the basis of written complaint of the customer, Forum President Gyarsi Lal Meena and member Hemlata Aggarwal have given this order on the complaint of Nikhil Aggarwal.

According to a report of Hindi website Rajasthan Patrika, a written complaint was filed on behalf of the customer in the consumer forum on 6 July 2022 against Aakd Cars Private Limited. The showroom had sold the jeep to the customer for about Rs 33.05 lakh. After taking its delivery, the vehicle stopped several times while going to the temple. After this his gear started getting stuck. Then the AC of the car started shutting down, and the rear lock was also shutting down again and again. After coming back from the temple, he reached the showroom and informed the seller about the problem in the car.
Showroom could not fix the fault of the car
When the customer informed about the problem arising in the vehicle, the showroom employee called him to the workshop informing him that the system of the vehicle was not updated. After the system was updated, the rear door lock of the vehicle became free. As soon as the glass of the right side gate was opened, a loud sound of the motor started coming. When the problem was pointed out again, assurance was given that the deficiencies would be rectified. Despite this, one problem or the other continued to arise. During this period the mileage of the vehicle was limited to 4-5 kilometers. However, at the time of purchasing the car, it was told that the mileage was 15 to 20 km at the showroom. Fed up with this problem, the customer finally approached the consumer forum and appealed to get the vehicle replaced or the cost of the vehicle refunded including damages and expenses.
