Who is stronger between Maruti’s Brezza, Baleno and Grand Vitara? BNCP will decide

BNCP Crash Test: Maruti Suzuki, the automobile manufacturer that provides affordable cars to the common man in India, has announced the first batch of cars for India NCAP crash test. According to the company, Brezza, Baleno and Grand Vitara will be the first Maruti models to be evaluated by BNCAP. The company has said that it will send the second batch of Maruti Franks cars to India for NCAP crash test. Before this, Brezza has already been crash tested in Global NCAP. However, this was the previous generation model, which was known as Vitara Brezza. In Global NCAP, it was given 4 stars for the safety of adult passengers and 2 stars for the safety of children.
Along with this, the crash safety test of Baleno has already been done in Global NCAP. It was given a disappointing zero-star rating by Latin NCAP. At the same time, Grand Vitara has not yet received safety rating from any independent body. The government had launched Bharat NCAP in August last year. The results of the first crash test were announced in December, which included Tata Harrier and Safari. Both the SUVs were awarded 5 stars and have become the first Indian cars to receive the BNCAP 5-star rating.
How are cars crash tested?
To crash test cars, a dummy is kept inside it. This dummy is made to sit like a human being. In the Global NCAP crash test, the car is driven at a speed of 64 kilometers per hour and collides with a barrier on the front. This collision is of this level, as if two vehicles of equal weight are colliding with each other at a speed of 50 kilometers per hour. Crash testing is done in many ways. This includes frontal, side, rear, and pole tests. In the frontal test, the car is hit directly from the front. In the side test, the car is hit from the side. In the rear test, the car is hit from the rear and in the pole test, the car is dropped from the top.
Maruti Brezza
Maruti has once again included mild-hybrid technology in the top models of Brezza. Maruti Brezza has a 1.5-litre petrol engine, which is capable of generating 101 PS power and 136 Nm torque. Along with the engine, it is given the choice of 5-speed manual gearbox and 6-speed automatic transmission. The same engine option is also available in the CNG version of this vehicle. However, its power output is 88 PS and 121.5 Nm, which is less than the regular model. In the CNG version, the option of 5-speed manual gearbox is given with the engine.
Apart from this, if we talk about the features of this car, Maruti Brezza has a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, four speakers, paddle shifters (automatic variant), sunroof, ambient lighting, wireless phone charger, heads-up display and 360 degree. Cameras are provided. At the same time, for the safety of the passengers, it has been provided with six airbags, ABS with EBD and rear parking sensors, electronic stability control and hill hold assist.
Maruti Baleno
Maruti Suzuki is offering a discount of around Rs 42,000 on Baleno. This five-seater car has a 1.2-litre DualJet petrol engine, which generates power of 90 PS and torque of 113 Nm. Along with the engine, it has been provided with idle start and stop technology. It has a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard, while 5-speed AMT transmission has been kept optional. The same engine is given in its CNG variants also, but its power output (77.49PS and 98.5Nm) has reduced slightly. Only 5-speed manual gearbox is provided in CNG model. Idle-start and stop technology is also provided in it.
This premium hatchback car has been provided with new features like segment first headup display, 360 degree camera, rear AC vents, rear fast charging USB port (regular and Type C) and LED fog lamps. Its feature list also includes newly designed LED projector headlights, ArcMe tuned sound system, rearview camera, 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charger and cruise control feature. Apart from this, it has been provided with auto climate control, push button start and stop and keyless entry. For the safety of the passengers, it gets six airbags, ESP and hill hold assist. Apart from this, it also has ISOFIX mount, ABS with EBD and speed alert system.
Maruti Grand Vitara
Like Maruti Suzuki Baleno, it is also giving a discount of up to Rs 35,000 on Grand Vitara. The Grand Vitara comes with three engine options: 1.5-litre petrol mild-hybrid (103PS), 1.5-litre petrol strong-hybrid (116PS) and 1.5-litre petrol-CNG (87.83PS @ 121.5Nm). Its strong hybrid version has three driving modes petrol, hybrid and pure EV. It has a choice of 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox with mild-hybrid engine. Only e-CVT gearbox is provided with the strong hybrid engine. Only 5-speed manual gearbox is available in CNG model. In this, the option of all wheel drive is available only in the top mild-hybrid variant.
Talking about its features, it has panoramic sunroof, 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, ambient lighting and digital driver display. Apart from this, features like phone charger, ventilated front seat, 360 degree camera and head-up display are also available in it. For the safety of passengers, it has been provided with features like ABS with EBD, six airbags, electronic stability program, tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), hill descent control and ISOFIX child seat anchors.
