Mahindra XUV.e8: The battle for supremacy in India’s electric car market continues between the two leading Indian automobile manufacturers Mahindra & Mahindra and Tata Motors. Last year, Tata Motors surprised everyone by launching many electric cars including Nexon EV in the market. Now Mahindra has geared up to challenge its dominance. The company is all set to bring its existing models XUV400 and XUV300 in electric avatar, but the real gamechanger could prove to be the electric edition of XUV700, which is also known as XUV.E8 in concept form. Like other models, this upcoming one will also be based on Anglo platform. The company can launch it in the market soon.
Mahindra XUV XUV.E8 Design
A recently revealed spy shot shows the XUV.E8 nearing production inside the factory premises, providing a glimpse of what’s to come in late 2024. The XUV.E8 has exterior panels with multiple doors and a rooftop along with the XUV700. However, what sets the XUV.E8 apart is the unique fascia, which has a wide LED light bar that runs down the bumper. The special hallmark of the EV is the sealed grille, in which the triangular headlamp housing is connected to the bumper. However, the design behind it is not visible in the spy shots. It is expected that it will give a stylish look like XUV700.
Mahindra XUV XUV.E8 Expected Price
Mahindra XUV.E8 has been spotted testing several times on Indian roads. The company can launch it in the market during December 2024. It is being estimated that this new electric SUV car of Mahindra can be available in the ex-showroom of India at a price of around Rs 35 lakh.
Mahindra XUV XUV.E8 Battery Pack and Range
Based on Mahindra’s new Anglo modular platform, this car will be provided with two sizes of batteries, 60 kWh and 80 kWh. With this car, you will get the choice of rear wheel drive and all wheel drive electric powertrain. Its WLTP certified range will be 450 kilometers. This vehicle will support fast charging up to 175 kW.
Mahindra XUV XUV.E8 Engine and Competition
It is estimated that its electric powertrain will generate power of 285 PS with rear-wheel-drive models, while it will generate power up to 394 PS with all-wheel-drive models. This new Mahindra EV will share many components (such as battery pack and motor) with Volkswagen’s MEB platform. Mahindra XUV.E8 will compete with BYD Ato3 in the market. It can also be chosen as a more premium option than Hyundai Kona Electric and MG ZS EV.
