More than 600 wayside amenities along expressways and highways
According to a media report, wayside amenity facilities are being constructed by the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways along all the expressways and highways of the country. It is also likely that by March 2026, more than 600 wayside amenities will be available along the expressways and highways passing through various cities of the country. The biggest thing is that these are being developed on expressways and highways at a distance of every 40 to 60 kilometers. Its responsibility has been given to the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI). At present, wayside amenity facilities have been developed at about 185 places along various expressways and highways of the country. At other places their work is going on in full swing.
What kind of facilities will there be in wayside amenities?
The report also said that the wayside amenity facilities to be developed along the expressways and highways will include food courts and restaurants, apart from malls, car-bus parking, wheel chairs for the disabled, charging points for charging electric vehicles and Facilities like children park etc. will be provided for the entertainment of children.
Open gym for drivers
Not only this, open gym will also be opened under the roadside amenities developed by the government along the expressways and highways. In this gym, drivers driving long distances will also be able to do gym to relieve fatigue. Generally, drivers driving for long distances have to sit in the same posture for hours. In such a situation, their back becomes stiff and fatigue increases. The stiffness and fatigue of their back will be removed through exercises in the gym.

Along with this, there will also be provision for first aid under the wayside amenities to be developed along the expressways and highways. Arrangements for medical clinic and ambulance will also be made in this. In case of any health related problem during the journey, timely first aid can be provided in these clinics. Apart from this, to promote local goods, it will have village hot, petrol, diesel and CNG pumps, ATM, convention centre, child care room, motel, trauma center and toilets.
