Earlier, to monetize the YouTube channel, it was necessary to complete 1000 subscribers and 4000 hours of watch time. At the same time, the criteria for shorts video views has been reduced from 10 million to 3 million.
Under YouTube’s new monetization policy, this relaxation of conditions will initially apply in the US, UK, Canada, South Korea and Taiwan. Soon it will be implemented in other countries including India.
YouTube has made this change in monetization policy to support small content creators. According to a report by The Verge, YouTube has also introduced some ways of earning for small creators, which include paid chat, tipping, channel membership and shopping features.
To earn from YouTube channel, one has to be a part of YouTube partner program. For this, there are conditions of 1000 subscribers, 4000 hours of watchtime or 10 million shorts views. Creators usually take more than a year to complete them. Under the new rules, the creators’ earnings will start already.
