New Delhi, 2 August (Hindustan Times). Indian senior men’s football team head coach Igor Stimac on Tuesday announced a 22-member squad for the 19th Asian Games to be held in Hangzhou, China from September 19 to October 7, 2023. The Indian men’s team has been placed in Group A along with hosts China PR, Bangladesh and Myanmar.
Explain that 23 teams are participating in the Asian Games football competition, which are divided into six groups in Group A, B, C, E and F. Each has four teams, while Group D has three teams. Two-time Asian Games champion India is participating in the continental Games football competition for the first time after nine years.
The Indian team for the Asian Games is as follows:
Goalkeeper: Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, Gurmeet Singh, Dheeraj Singh Moirangthem.
defender: Sandesh Jhingan, Anwar Ali, Narendra Gehlot, Lalchungnunga, Akash Mishra, Roshan Singh, Ashish Rai.
midfielder: Jackson Singh Thounaojam, Suresh Singh Wangjam, Apuiya Ralte, Amarjit Singh Kiyam, Rahul KP, Naorem Mahesh Singh.
forward: Shiv Sakthi Narayanan, Rahim Ali, Aniket Jadhav, Vikram Pratap Singh, Rohit Danu, Sunil Chhetri.
