Raipur. India bowled out New Zealand for 108 in the second ODI on Saturday, riding on a brilliant performance by the bowlers led by pacer Mohammed Shami.
India’s fast bowlers initially did not let the batsmen survive, justifying Indian captain Rohit Sharma’s decision to field first after winning the toss, after which the spinners did wonders to end New Zealand’s innings in 34.3 overs.
Shami took three wickets for 18 runs while Hardik Pandya took two wickets for 16 runs and part-time off-spinner Washington Sundar took two wickets for seven runs. Mohammad Siraj, Shardul Thakur and Kuldeep Yadav got one wicket each.
New Zealand were under pressure from the outset, losing their top five batsmen for just 15 runs. Glenn Phillips scored 36 off 52 balls, Michael Bracewell scored 22 off 30 balls and Mitchell Santner scored 27 off 39 balls to somehow take New Zealand past the hundred.(IANS)
