Petrol-Diesel Vehicles: Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has pledged that he will die only after shutting down more than 36 crore petrol-diesel vehicles running in India. In return, hybrid vehicles will be promoted. That is why he has also advocated reducing the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on hybrid vehicles to make the country a green economy. He has reiterated his resolve to free India from petrol-diesel vehicles in an exclusive interview given to news agency Bhasha.

Will India become free from petrol and diesel vehicles?

In a special interview, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari was asked whether India will be completely free from petrol-diesel vehicles? In response to this he said, ‘100 percent’. Further he said that it is definitely difficult, but not impossible. This is my opinion.

Fuel import money will be spent on farmers

In a special interview, he also said that India spends Rs 16 lakh crore annually on importing fuel from other countries. Now the government will use this money to improve the lives of farmers. Villages will prosper and youth will get employment. However, Union Minister Gadkari has not given any deadline to accomplish this ambitious target, which even supporters of green energy consider very difficult.

Why is the government promoting hybrid vehicles?

Let us tell you that to promote green energy in India, the government is promoting hybrid vehicles. These hybrid vehicles will run on ethanol and ethanol is produced from sugarcane. As the use of ethanol increases, the farmers of the country will move towards sugarcane cultivation and then the income of the farmers will increase. Apart from sugar mills, this will also boost employment generation in the auto sector.

GST will be reduced on hybrid and flex fuel vehicles

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari further said that a proposal to reduce GST rates on hybrid and flex fuel vehicles has been sent to the Finance Ministry, which is considering it. He said that there is a proposal to reduce GST rates on hybrid vehicles by 5 percent and on flex engine vehicles by 12 percent. He said that he is confident that India can eliminate fuel imports by promoting the use of biofuels.

Gadkari has been advocating alternative fuels since 2004

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said that he has been advocating alternative fuels since 2004. He is confident that things will change in the coming five to seven years. I cannot give you a date and year for this change, because it is very difficult. It is difficult, not impossible. He said that at the speed at which electric vehicles are being introduced, the coming era will be of alternative and bio-fuels and this dream will come true. Companies like Bajaj, TVS and Hero are also planning to make motorcycles using flex engines. Three-wheelers made with similar technology are also coming.
