4 female and 3 male Indian players got place in ICC’s T20 team of the year, return of Virat Kohli

International Cricket Council (ICC) on Sunday for both men’s and women’s cricket T20I Team of the Year has announced. 11-11 players have been selected in both the women’s and men’s categories. Four Indian players have been given a place in the women’s team, while three Indian players are included in the men’s team. In this, such players have been selected who impressed with their batting, bowling and all-round exploits in 2022.
Virat Kohli returns
Along with former India captain Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya are two more Indian players in the men’s team. While Smriti Mandhana and three other Indian women cricketers have been given a chance in the women’s team. Apart from India, two players each from England and Pakistan and one player each from New Zealand, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka and Ireland have been included in the men’s team.
Jos Buttler was made captain
Jos Buttler, who led the England team to the title win in the T20 World Cup in Australia last November, has been made the captain of the team. After a good performance in 2022, Kohli has returned to the ICC Team of the Year. His maiden century in this format also ended a three-year long drought. Suryakumar scored 1164 T20I runs in 2022, the most by an Indian in a calendar year.
His name is included along with Mandhana.
Smriti Mandhana performed brilliantly in 2022. He scored 594 runs at a strike-rate of 133.48, including five half-centuries in 21 innings. The names of Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh and Renuka Singh are included in the other three Indian cricketers. Deepti performed well as an all-rounder last year, taking 29 wickets and scoring 370 runs at an average of 136.02.
