New Delhi . Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched 5G services in October 2022. Since then, 5G users in India are using about 3.6 times more mobile data than 4G.

According to a report released on Wednesday, average monthly data traffic per user increased by 24 percent year-on-year in 2023, reaching 24.1 gigabytes per user per month.

The 5G device ecosystem is developing rapidly in India. Of the country’s 796 million smartphones, about 17 percent or 13.4 million are 5G devices.

According to the ‘Nokia Mobile Broadband Index’ report, “5G data consumption in India is four times that of 4G.”

In 2023, users will consume 17.4 exabytes per month with a CAGR of 26 percent over the last five years. According to the findings, the launch of 5G has emerged as the main source for growth in data usage, which will contribute 15 percent of all data traffic in 2023.

“The incredible deployment of 5G technology across India and the growing demand for super-fast 5G data speeds is evident,” said Tarun Chhabra, Head of Mobile Networks Business, Nokia (India).

5G traffic has seen substantial growth across all telecom circles. In which Metro Circle is ahead in this matter and has reached 20 percent share in the total mobile data traffic.

According to the report, advanced 5G availability and performance, availability of a wide range of affordable devices, as well as the introduction of new data-intensive apps and services will accelerate 5G growth in the future.

According to the report, the rise of 5G fixed wireless access (FWA) will drive new services in both home and business, with FWA users expected to use an estimated 2.5 times more data than average 5G users.
