Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan to reunite for Netflix’s first Pakistan-themed original, based on Humsafar author’s novel

A report in Variety suggests that Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan will star together in Netflix’s first Pakistan-themed original. The series is adapted from the 2013 Urdu novel ‘Jo Bachaye Hain Sang Samet Lo’ written by Farhat Ishtiaq, author of the Humsafar novel, which will be picturized on Fawad and Mahira.

Reportedly, the show revolves around Harvard Law student Sikandar, who “witnesses a life-changing event” and Lisa, a talented artist, who has a “troubled past”. Both meet in Italy. The series reunites Sanam Saeed with Fawad after their popular Zindagi show Barzakh. Other cast includes Ahad Raza Mir (Resident Evil, World on Fire Season 2), Hamza Ali Abbasi (The Legend of Moula Jatt), Bilal Ashraf (Superstar), Maya Ali (Beyond Hut Love), Iqra Aziz (Raqeeb Se) .
The show will be set in Italy, UK and Pakistan.

The series will reunite Fawad and Mahira in another adaptation from the author of Humsafar. Apart from Humsafar, both the actors were also seen in Bilal Lashari’s action film The Legend of Maula Jatt last year. It was an adaptation of the 1979 Pakistani classic Maula Jatt. Made on a budget of ₹45 crore, this Pakistani Punjabi film collected a total box office collection of ₹300 crore during its lifetime. This made it the highest-grossing Pakistani film of all time. However, the film never released in India.
