Amid growing controversy over the statement, the actress has shared a long note on her social media handle giving a clarification, apologizing for her remarks on women. Sonali wrote in her post, ‘Dear everyone, I am very happy with the feedback I am getting. I want to say thank you to all of you, especially to the entire press and media who have been associated with me in a mature way. Being a woman, it was not my intention to hurt other women. Time and again I have raised my voice in support of us and what it means to be a woman. I am personally very blessed that people who appreciate or criticize have reached out to me. We hope to exchange ideas openly. I am trying to think, support and share goodness not just with women but with the entire humanity. It will only get stronger when we women shine with our weaknesses and wisdom as fair and capable individuals. Only then we will be able to create a happy place.

Sonali further wrote, ‘If I have unknowingly hurt anyone, I want to apologize from the bottom of my heart.
