Reigning world champion and Asian Games gold medalist Chopra has been included in the RTP for some time now but Jena and Manu have been included in it for the first time, which reflects the dominance of Indian players in javelin throw at the world level. Jena finished fifth while Manu finished sixth in the World Championships 2023 held in Budapest, Hungary. Chopra won the gold medal in this championship.
Having three players from India in the top six is a record in itself. Now seven players from India have joined AIU’s RTP. 3000m steeplechase athlete Avinash Sable, women’s javelin thrower Annu Rani and long jumpers Murali Sreeshankar and Jesswin Aldrin are the other Indian players in the list.
Players included in RTP have to inform about their place of stay every quarter. This includes home address, email, phone number, practice venue, schedule of competitions and their venue.
