Agreement between IOC and Reliance Foundation to promote Olympic Values ​​Education

International Olympic Committee (IOC) has joined hands with Reliance Foundation for the success of Olympic Value Education Program (OVEP) in India. Olympic Museum will also be included in this alliance. The partners signed a cooperation agreement. This agreement will work to further Olympic values ​​through sports among the youth.

IOC President Thomas Bach visits football academy

IOC President Thomas Bach visited the Reliance Foundation Young Champs (RFYC) Football Academy in Mumbai. During this, he and Nita Ambani, IOC member in India and Founder Chairperson of Reliance Foundation, expressed their agreement on this new cooperation.

It will be implemented first in Mumbai

On this occasion, President Bach said, sports have the ability to change the lives of youth. We will be joining as OVEP Implementation Partner Reliance Foundation Welcomes. He further said, we look forward to introducing more and more students to the Olympic values. It will be implemented first in the Mumbai region and then hopefully spread across the entire state of Maharashtra. He further said, the word ‘Together’ in the Olympic motto expresses the feeling of solidarity. With the OVEP programme, we want to reach all children and young people, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds, who do not usually have access to sports and healthy lifestyles.

Nita Ambani said- Children are our future

Reliance Foundation Founder Chairperson Nita Ambani said, Reliance Foundation is happy to partner with IOC for OVEP. OVEP brings together sports and education. With this partnership, we hope to have a positive impact on India’s 25 crore school going children. This program will reach out to remote villages and areas of India and provide children with more disciplined, healthy, fit and more holistic lifestyle options. Children are our future and we have to give them the right to education and the right to play.

Estimated to include about 29 crore children in OVEP.

Just six months after the launch of OVEP for Odisha students, schools recorded a significant increase in attendance and participation in sports, especially among girls. The programme, now in its second year, has reached more than 700 teachers and 250,000 children in 350 schools. It has expanded till the state of Assam. Once fully implemented, about 29 crore children are expected to be included in OVEP.

IOC and Reliance Foundation plan to focus on three main areas

• Grade activities in selected schools to promote Olympism and Olympic values ​​and drive positive behavior change

• Virtual and in-person sessions between athletes and students to promote physical activity and discuss Olympic values

• Raise awareness of Olympic values ​​through interactive games, quizzes and workshops at sports and educational events
