Dubai (The Hindu News): Veteran India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin retained the top spot alongside James Anderson despite falling six points in the ICC Test bowlers’ list.
According to the latest rankings released by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday, Ashwin continues to lead the list of Test bowlers with 859 points, while England’s Anderson is second with the same number of points.
Ashwin, who reached the top ranking last week, managed only four wickets in two innings in the Indore Test against Australia, which Australia won by nine wickets.
Meanwhile, Nathan Lyon and Kagiso Rabada have also leapfrogged the list of Test bowlers thanks to their stellar performances.
The South African bowler has jumped three places in the list after taking eight wickets in the first Test against the West Indies. Rabada has moved up to fourth place with 807 rating points, though he is still a long way off third-ranked Australian captain Pat Cummins (849).
Australia’s experienced off-spinner Lyon has made a huge jump of six places against India after a match-winning performance in Indore. Lyon, who took 11 wickets in two innings in the Indore Test, has moved to the ninth position in the list of Test bowlers with 769 rating points.
