Ranchi: Indian spin bowler R Ashwin has created another record in his name by completing his 100th century against England on Friday. Ashwin achieved this feat on Friday, the first day of the fourth Test match, by LBWing England batsman Jonny Bairstow for 38 runs. With this, Ashwin has become the first bowler for India to take 100 wickets against two teams in Tests. Apart from Ashwin, Anil Kumble has completed a century of wickets against Australia. Kumble has taken 114 wickets against the Kangaroo team.
It is noteworthy that earlier in the third Test played in Rajkot, Ashwin had touched the figure of 500 Test wickets. Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah congratulated Ashwin on the social media platform X for his remarkable achievement and described him as ‘one of the greatest spin bowlers in the history of cricket’.
Shah wrote on X, “Once again setting new records, Ashwin has created history by becoming the first Indian to take 100 Test wickets against England. His outstanding performances have further cemented his status as one of the greatest spin bowlers in cricket history. His extraordinary achievement underlines his talent and dedication to the game.
