Asian Cricket Council has given big relief to the fans of India and Pakistan. ACC announced on Friday that a reserve day has been kept for the Super Four match to be played between the two countries. So that if the match is interrupted due to rain, the match can be held on the next day. This match is to be played on 10 September.
According to the ACC, if play is stopped due to adverse weather during the India-Pakistan match, the match will continue on September 11 from the same point from where it was suspended.
In such a situation, ticket holders are advised to retain their match tickets which will remain valid and will be used for the reserved day. But if there is no rain then the reserve day will be considered as rest day.
It should also be noted that the India vs Pakistan contest is the only match to have a reserve day in the Super 4 stage. This option will not be available to teams in any other match of Super Four. But there will be a reserve day in the final match to be held on 17th September.
The Pakistan Cricket Board on Sunday announced a change in the playing conditions for the India-Pakistan match and advised spectators to retain their tickets, which will be valid if the reserve day condition is implemented.
This means that if rain disrupts the big match on September 10, the match can be resumed the very next day from where it was stopped.
The Asia Cup final to be played on September 17 has already been provided a reserve day in view of heavy rain in the Lankan capital. In such a situation, ACC said that spectators can keep their match tickets which will remain valid on the reserve day.
The match played between India and Pakistan on September 2 had to be canceled due to rain. Batting first, India had scored 266 runs. Ishan Kishan and vice-captain Hardik Pandya batted amazingly in that match.
