The Indian team has started preparations for its second match with Pakistan in the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup, which will be played in Colombo on Sunday. India sweated profusely in the nets before the match with arch-rival Pakistan on Thursday. But Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were not seen during practice.
KL Rahul was also seen sweating in the nets along with the KAB players. He practiced for both left-arm fast bowlers and right-arm fast bowlers keeping in mind the quality bowling attack from Pakistan. He spent the longest time in the nets to fully prepare for his comeback match.
Shubman Gill also faced some balls in the nets with right-handed batsmen. He was mainly concentrating on playing swing balls. Indian head coach Rahul Dravid bowled the balls to prepare Shardul Thakur to bat in the final overs to add depth to the batting order.
During the net session, Dravid was also seen talking to Shardul about his batting. Virat Kohli and captain Rohit Sharma took rest from the optional practice session. The group stage match between India and Pakistan was canceled due to rain and both the teams had to share one point each.
In the match, the Indian batting team had to struggle against the pace attack of Pakistan, especially Shaheen Afridi, who took four wickets in the match. With the help of Hardik Pandya’s 87 runs and Ishan Kishan’s 82 runs, India was bundled out for 266 runs in 48.5 overs, due to which the team was successful in achieving a good target.
However, rain intervened and the match was abandoned without Pakistan facing a single ball. Pakistan captain Babar Azam has said that the Pakistan team will give its 100 percent in this much-awaited match against India in the Asia Cup Super Four.
Pakistan started the Super Four with a resounding 7-wicket win against Bangladesh at the Gaddafi Stadium on Wednesday. The ‘Men in Green’ will be keen to maintain their unbeaten streak against their arch-rivals as the Asia Cup heads into a two-day break.
Babar Azam said after the victory that this victory will give us confidence, we are always ready for a big match. Will give my 100% in the next match. Babar has also made a record of Virat Kohli in his name during this big match.
