Asia Cup: Shreyas Iyer out of the match against Sri Lanka

Colombo. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said that Team India’s batsman Shreyas Iyer will not be available for the Asia Cup Super-4 match against Sri Lanka on Tuesday. He is still not completely fit.
Shreyas Iyer, who returned in the Asia Cup after a long break due to injuries, is in the headlines. However, the reason is not his sport but his fitness.
Shreyas Iyer is the batsman who has been included in both the Asia and World Cup teams. But, suspense still remains on his fitness.
Shreyas Iyer had scored 14 runs in the group stage match against Pakistan. But, after playing one more match, he was out of the playing-11 due to injury.
BCCI said that Iyer was advised rest by the medical team and he has not traveled with Team India to the R Premadasa Stadium.

Rahul was included in his place in a last-minute decision after Iyer suffered back spasms in the practice session ahead of Sunday’s Super 4 match against Pakistan.
The 28-year-old recently returned to the team after a back injury and played in both of India’s group-stage fixtures against Pakistan and Nepal.
Considering that this is the third time in the last six months that the batsman has had a back problem, Iyer’s fitness will be closely monitored.
A previous injury had forced him to sit out the home series against Australia and the entire Indian Premier League (IPL) season.
