Asian Games gold medalist Neeraj Chopra becomes Laureus brand ambassador

New Delhi. Asian Games gold medalist and reigning Olympic and world champion in men’s javelin throw, Neeraj Chopra was on Wednesday named Laureus Ambassador here, pledging his support to Laureus Sport for Good.

His association with Laureus dates back to 2022, when he was selected for the Breakthrough of the Year award at the Laureus World Sports Awards as a result of winning the first gold medal for an Indian track and field athlete at the Tokyo Olympics. Neeraj became interested in Laureus after learning more about the athlete-led organization that celebrates the transformative power of sport.

Laureus Brand Ambassador Neeraj Chopra said, “It is a great honor for me to join Laureus as an ambassador. Using my platform and the power of sports to help youth in India and around the world is something I look forward to doing. It’s inspiring to see the many stalwarts who have been part of this program and the difference they’ve made in the world, and I believe the same; That game has the power to change the world.”

He said, “I have heard about the many programs that Laureus supports in India, and the stories remind me of the many ways we can help young people. Every athlete knows that the game can be a big part of that story. “People are watching and following my sport now more than ever and I believe that by working with Laureus Sport for Good I can use that platform to change lives.”

The global foundation supports more than 300 programs that use sport to eradicate inequality and discrimination for youth around the world.

Neeraj now joins a unique team of elite athletes from different generations, including academy members and Indian sporting icons Kapil Dev, Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar.
