India won its biggest medal at the Asian Games on Wednesday when Jyoti Surekha Vennam and Ojas Praveen Deotale won gold in the compound mixed team archery event in Hangzhou, China. This is India’s 71st medal in these Asian Games, which is the best performance of the Indian contingent so far in a single edition. India had won 70 medals at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang.
Ojas and Jyoti defeated South Korea 159-158 in the compound mixed team event and won the gold medal, securing a historic 71st medal for India. Earlier, Indian archers Jyoti-Praveen had entered the finals by defeating Kazakhstan’s Adele Zekshenbinova and Andrey Tytunto by 159-155. Earlier, they had made it to the semi-finals by defeating the Malaysian team by the score of 158-155.
