Johannesburg | Cricket South Africa announced on Friday that Australia will tour South Africa from August 30 to September 17 to play three T20Is and five ODIs to prepare for the ODI World Cup to be held in India in October-November.
The Kingsmead Stadium in Durban will host all three T20Is on 30 August, 1 and 3 September. Australia will enter the series under a new captain following the retirement of Aaron Finch from international cricket earlier this year.
The five-match ODI series will begin on September 7 and 9 at the Mangong Oval in Bloemfontein. The third ODI will be played on September 12 at JB Marks Oval.
Both the teams will then travel to Supersport Park for the fourth ODI on 15 September. The last match of the series will be played on September 17 at the Wanderers Stadium.
South Africa will host Australia for the first time since 2020 when the hosts bounced back from a 2-1 loss in the T20I series to clean sweep them 3-0 in the ODI series.
South Africa have not qualified directly for the ODI World Cup after pulling out of a three-match series against Australia in January last year.
Their direct qualification will depend on Ireland losing a single match of the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh next week. If Ireland won 3–0, South Africa would have to play a qualifying tournament in Zimbabwe in June–July.
