Australia wants to host India-Pakistan bilateral series

New Delhi: Cricket Australia (CA) has expressed interest in hosting a bilateral series between India and Pakistan. However, the report states that this will be discussed only if the BCCI and PCB agree to matches between the two teams in the future. India and Pakistan have not played any bilateral series since 2012–13, and the two countries are only seen against each other in ICC tournaments such as the World Cup and Champions Trophy.
Both Asian nations will be in Australia at the same time this November as CA announced its international schedule with Pakistan shortly before India arrive for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series starting November 22, which will include three One ODI match and three T20 matches will be played. According to the Sydney Morning Herald report, CA’s cricket operations manager Peter Roach said on Tuesday that we would like to host the match between India and Pakistan.
Roach said, “We are always interested in opportunities for big matches that are special for our fans. We all know that every country in the world would love to see India and Pakistan compete in their country.” Tickets for the T20 World Cup clash between rival nations at the MCG in 2022 sold out within five minutes, attracting more than 90,000 fans. Similarly, the clash in Adelaide in 2015 was also much talked about. This demand may have suggested that Australia could be an ideal venue for future Pakistan–India matches. CA chief executive Nick Hockley also reiterated his desire to host the two Asian nations for a bilateral series.
He said, “Hosting the India-Pakistan match at the MCG in 2022 was one of the most memorable moments of this ground. Now many people want to witness this competition again. If such an opportunity comes, we will happily grab that opportunity. If we can play a role in this, we are ready to play that role also. “We are excited to host Pakistan and India this summer.”
