When India toured Australia in 2021, both teams took part in a day-night pink ball Test. Flagler was quoted by ESPN Cricinfo as saying, ‘We have to prepare during the WBBL. It is really important for our fast bowlers to increase their loads and be ready to bowl long spells during a Test match, but our spin bowlers will have to do the same. So playing in the WBBL is a balancing act, but it also involves some lifting and preparation.

Flagler also said Australia would not play a first-class practice match before the Test against India, although it did play a three-day tour match against England A ahead of this year’s only Ashes Test at Trent Bridge. Instead, they will resort to central wicket practice apart from intrasquad matches and use Indian bowlers as net bowlers. ‘We are going to go to India a week or 10 days before the start of the Test match. So we will have some good training preparation for this. We will have some extra players from India who we will use in some centre.
