We have told this to the minister. Bajrang said that he has no problem with Anita as she is a former wrestler and is aware of the condition of the players.
He said, “We want a former wrestler to take charge of the WFI who at least knows what it takes to win medals for the country. Anita is a Commonwealth Games medalist and understands the demands of wrestlers.
Anita, who is challenging to become the first woman president of WFI, is reportedly a witness in the sexual harassment case against Brij Bhushan. Brij Bhushan has faced several allegations of sexual harassment and is currently on bail. He cannot contest the WFI elections as he has completed 12 years as an office-bearer, which is the maximum tenure under the National Sports Code. Brij Bhushan has also assured that no member of his family will contest the elections.
Uttar Pradesh Wrestling Association President Brij Bhushan and his son Karan, Vice President of the same association, will not contest the elections. Bihar Wrestling Federation President and Brij Bhushan’s son-in-law Vishal Singh is also not contesting the elections.
