Bajrang-Deepak will go for training abroad, MOC approves

New Delhi, , The Mission Olympic Cell (MOC) of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has approved the proposals of wrestlers Bajrang Punia and Deepak Punia to train abroad but has sought fresh dates from them.
The proposals were initially approved subject to the submission of a fitness certificate before going abroad.
Both the wrestlers have met the criteria set by the wrestling sub-committee of the MOC and have been cleared. But the original dates of foreign travel could not be adhered to, so they have been asked to give new dates for travel. MOC’s wrestling sub-committee on proposals of Olympic bronze medalist Bajrang and 2019 World Championships silver medalist Deepak discussed and approved both the proposals. Bajrang’s proposal to train with a coach, strength and conditioning specialist, physiotherapist and sparring partner in Kyrgyzstan from August 21 to September 28 (39 days) was put up for discussion on August 18 On the other hand, Olympian Deepak Punia’s stay in Russia from August 23 to September 28 (35 days) along with his coach and physiotherapist for a training camp was also discussed. The committee approved the proposals of both Bajrang and Deepak. But the condition was that he should give a fitness certificate with proper reason for not participating in the senior world championship trials before going abroad. Thereafter, on August 19, through email, Bajrang gave his consent for not participating in the world championship trials. Tell the reason. Further, a medical fitness assessment was conducted by SAI on 21st August at NCOE Sonepat, in which he has been declared fit to play/train in competitive sports. Meanwhile, Deepak has submitted his answer and medical certificate on 22nd August. Given. Since both have submitted the necessary documents, SAI has now requested the athletes to give fresh dates for their travel.
