Bajrang Punia is persuading the angry Khap Panchayats, said- ‘If they say so, I will withdraw from the Asian Games’

Bajrang Punia says that he may withdraw from the Asian Games if all the panchayats who supported him during the protest at Jantar Mantar ask him to do so.
These days Olympic bronze medalist Bajrang Punia is busy in persuading Khap Panchayats. Due to which he has indicated that he may withdraw from the Asian Games. Poonia says that he may withdraw from the Asian Games if all the panchayats who supported him during the protest at Jantar Mantar ask him to do so.
Let us tell you that Bajrang Punia and his colleagues, who were protesting to demand the arrest of Brij Bhushan Sharan, the outgoing chief of Wrestling Federation of India, following the allegations of alleged sexual harassment, were supported by the Khap Panchayats.
Other wrestlers who performed at Jantar Mantar with Bajrang Punia included Olympic bronze medalist Sakshi Malik and Asian Games gold medalist Vinesh Phogat. But later the panchayats were not happy with Bajrang and Vinesh’s demand for exemption in the Asian Games trials. Parents of several wrestlers and their coaches also protested against this exemption in Hisar and at the headquarters of the Indian Olympic Association.
Also, Vishal Kaliraman had topped the Asian Games trials but was put on the standby list while Bajrang was the first choice in the 65kg freestyle category. After this, the Khap Panchayats held a meeting at the Jat Dharamshala in Jind to discuss the treatment meted out to Vishal. Seeing the growing displeasure of Khap Panchayats, Bajrang indicated in the Mahapanchayat in Jind, Haryana that he may withdraw from the Asiad. If the Panchayat asks them to do so.
While in his statement, Poonia said, gather all the members of the Chaudhary organization, all the Khap Panchayats participating in the demonstration at Jantar Mantar. Whatever orders they give, I am ready to follow.”
