Bajrang Punia to participate in World Wrestling Championship trials or give fitness certificate, SAI bluntly

Bajrang Punia Now the crisis is looming over the exemption given to the trial of the Asian Games. Sports Authority of India (SAI) wants Olympic medalist wrestler Bajrang world Championships attend trial for or provide fitness certificate if he wants exemption from this week’s practice in Patiala. Poonia is planning to skip the trials for the World Championships on August 25 and 26 and instead wants to train at a foreign location to prepare for the Asian Games starting in Hangzhou on September 23.
Bajrang was exempted from trial
Bajrang Punia is also one of the six wrestlers protesting at Jantar Mantar against outgoing WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Commonwealth Games gold medalist Deepak Punia (86 kg) is not keen on competing in the World Championships in Belgrade from September 16. Instead, he wants to undergo long training to prepare for the Asian Games. Where Bajrang has sent a proposal for training in Issyk-Kul, Kyrgyzstan (August 21-September 28). On the other hand, Deepak wants to train in Khasavyurt (Russia) for five weeks (23 August to 28 September) to prepare for the Asian Games.
Bajrang wants to train abroad
An official told the news agency PTI on Monday on the condition of anonymity that yes, we have asked Bajrang why he is leaving the Worlds Trial. He said that he wants to prepare for the Asian Games and till then take training abroad. But we have asked them to appear for the trials on 25th and 26th August and leave for the training camp abroad on 27th August.

Deepak Punia also wants to train abroad
The World Championships is the first qualification tournament for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games and SAI is unhappy that two of the country’s top wrestlers want to skip the trial and showpiece event. While 65 kg wrestler Bajrang, who won a bronze medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, has also demanded to keep physiotherapist Anuj Gupta, personal coach Sujit Mann, strength and conditioning specialist Qazi Kiran Mustafa Hasan and sparring partner Jitendra Kinha with him. Deepak has requested the services of coach Kamal Malikov and physiotherapist Shubham Gupta for the training period.

Sai asked for fitness certificate from both the wrestlers
SAI wants both the wrestlers to first compete in the Worlds Trials to prove their fitness and is then ready to consider their offer of training abroad. Sai’s source said that we have also told him (Bajrang) to provide his fitness certificate if he has to skip the trials completely. We have also received their request for their support staff. The matter is currently with the MOC (Mission Olympic Cell) and they will take a call on it after getting a proper reply from Bajrang.
Bajrang has returned after training from Kyrgyzstan
Bajrang and his partner Kinha have recently returned from Kyrgyzstan after a long training. The top wrestler, along with Asian Games gold medalist Vinesh Phogat and Olympic medalist Sakshi Malik, had requested to return to competitive status from overseas training as they sat at Jantar Mantar for nearly two months in protest against Brij Bhushan. All the six wrestlers who protested at Jantar Mantar were earlier exempted from participating in the trials for the Asian Games on July 22–23, leading to massive protests by fellow wrestlers.
